To the murderer that reads my blog

I mean, I have to suspect the person that did this is feeling the heat and is reading this. If I helped commit a murder you can bet your butt I would be reading a blog dedicated to finding me.

People often tell me to be careful while investigating this case. I think everyone should be careful because it is obvious to me that someone capable of a brutal murder is walking around like nothing happened. I am cautious but not scared.  I imagine as long as people are looking for them they are less likely to do something like this again. Someone justified dumping a pregnant woman's body on the side of an isolated road like an empty soda bottle.
I guess that is a scary thought but it mostly just pisses me off.
The No. 1 risk of death for pregnant women is the normal medical complication of childbearing, followed by traffic accidents and then homicide.
Usually, as I have said before, it is the husband/partner. But that can't be in this case due to Gary's alibi and I don't think Gary would have been working with Vonda and we know Vonda was involved. I wonder if this applies to ex-intimate partners? I imagine it does.

I'm still very curious about the unknown female DNA that was found.

So, to the murderer(s) that are reading this, I want to warn you that your time of being considered innocent is limited. The truth is coming. There is more DNA evidence coming, it may take years, but I'll still be here and so will a lot of other people ready to watch you get what you deserve.

Until next time...

Who ISN'T a suspect?

I am very happy that people are starting to contact me in private messages and tell me about things they know or heard so I can verify them and apply them to this case. I have been asked if I could state who I suspect helped Vonda. I'm a very open person concerning this case, and I don't hide my identity because I can't expect people to be brave and come forward if I am hiding behind a screen name. In this day and age 'privacy' is just a false sense of security. Everyone can be found.
I'm pretty crafty when it comes to tracking folks down.
In fact, I was tracking William Smith so well that it got back to him (lol) and he finally contacted me and said, "I heard you had the hounds out searching for me."
I talked to him and he was polite but paranoid. He used a burner phone and made plans to meet up with me on a Sunday. I showed up, he did not.
I haven't been able to get ahold of him since.
The only thing I'm willing to share from that conversation is that he believes his mother is innocent.
I don't want to name people because I can't prove that anyone did anything. I think more than enough proof has been given to show Vonda's involvement. So I have no issues calling her guilty.
There are people that still suspect the people I almost immediately ruled out.
For example, her mother, Tammy Morrison.
I have more than one message from people concerned that there was beef between her and her daughters posted online for all to see. An argument where Tammy's drinking was brought up and this was somehow all it took for people to try to paint her as a negligent mother and somehow complacent or even guilty of being part of Jessie's murder. I'm gonna go ahead and discount those claims. Tammy enjoys having a drink and she doesn't pretend otherwise. She doesn't put on for anyone and if you want to mess with one of her kids, I would caution you to make sure you are never found.
I have gotten to know her and have reached out to try to get to know Vonda's family but they said they are just "private" and "like to stay to themselves" so I can't speak to their personalities.
I want to get to know everyone involved in this case.
I don't want to make assumptions.
Here are the people I am willing to bet didn't have anything to do with Jessie Morrison's murder or the covering up of it:
Jessie's mother and father. Shawn Gross ("K"'s father) and his mother Angie, Gary Ealey (He had a rock solid alibi, backed with time cards and video footage) This was a hard person for me to exclude from the suspect list because usually, it is a spouse or partner. Lee Allen Britton (It makes a good story, but absolutely nothing points to him in this case)
That is it. That is all I have out of our 'players' that I can safely say didn't do it.
You guys have any theories of who did it or what weapon was used? Send me a private message or comment so we can discuss.

Interesting things reported in newspapers during the trial

I will have the transcript from the trial, but until then, all we can do is try to piece as much of the trial together as we can via newspapers. I'm not going to try to map out the entire trial here from newspaper reports but I am going to post the things I found most interesting.

*Cecil Mills Jr. (state prosecutor) said that the jury should focus on a 4-hour window on August 12.
*Tammy (Jessie's mother) described the actions she and daughter Cheyenne took to try to locate Jessie, she stated that she drove from Hawkins County to Jessie's mobile home off of Baileyton road and then to Smith's house after Jessie did not return phone calls or texts. Smith also did not return phone calls made by Tammy.
*Vonda's attorney said that when her car was returned to her property it was left unlocked, which created the possibility that someone could have put the victim's blood inside. So they (Vonda and her attorney) thought someone placed Jessie's blood all over the car in an attempt to frame Vonda.
*Vonda's attorney objected to post-autopsy photos of Jessie's unborn child and to crime scene video that was more than 4 minutes long and spent what Scot calls "an inordinate amount of time" focusing on Morrison's body and graphic views of her injuries to her head and other parts of her body. Judge Duggar agreed and directed Mills to redact the video to shorten it so it does show the injuries but doesn't linger on the body.
*Other than being a blunt object and not a firearm, it is unknown what the murder weapon was
*Smith lost her composure and began crying during the crimes scene video and later during the murder weapon discussion.
*Dugger ruled that photos showing the victim's possessions found on Betsy Ross Road several miles from the crimes scene would also be allowed, but children's toys will be excluded.
*Vonda's attorney (Gene Scott) objected to allowing a letter and CD (containing the John Michael Montgomery song "The Little Girl") which had been given to a detective by Vonda.
*Actual site of murder was never determined.
*Trial testimony by Ealey and several others indicated that Vonda became deeply upset when she learned that Jessie planned to marry Ealey and start a family.
*Vonda Smith wiped tears from her eyes during her sentencing hearing on June 25, 2018.
*The jury returned a verdict after 6 hours of deliberation.
*Smith showed no emotion as the verdict was pronounced.
*The letter Smith left the detective expresses concern about the well being of her grandson and her ability to have access to him in the future. "I'm just trying to save my Grandson." she wrote in a passage.
*Scott asked whether a bill of particulars prepared by the state identifies other possible suspects. Mills told Dugger that the prosecution has no proof of any other person playing a role in the killing of Morrison. The prosecution has 'some proof' that another person may have assisted the killer after Morrison died.
*Sherrif's department detectives testified that they also found personal papers and other property owned by Morrison discarded on Betsy Ross Road in Afton.
*Detective Randolph, now retired, said he found Morrison's driver's license, a bloody paper towel, children's shorts and hospital discharge papers for one of Jessie's sons on Tyne Gray Road. Several hundred yards from her body.
*Gene Scott made a motion to dismiss the indictment against Vonda when information was revealed that Morrison's phone had been tracked to Tyne Gray Road. This evidence was not presented in discovery. Scot argued they had no opportunity to hir and expert and said that the Greene County Sheriffs department can't find the document on the phone tracking done by Danny Ricker.
*Gary Ealey testified that Jessie drove him to work that morning in the couples Acura Sports Utility vehicle and that he later had contact with Jessie and Vonda for several minutes around 3pm when they arrived to switch out vehicles.
*Gary testified that Smith asked him if he had money for lunch, and testified that he thought she also offered Jessie money. He said he did not observe anything unusual about Morrison and Smith that day.
*Groceries were later found in Morrison's home on the kitchen floor with no bags
*Gary testified that he went home after work expecting to find Jessie there. He said later Jessie's father and sister, Cheyenne came to the trailer looking for her. Jessie's mother, Tammy, also came.
*Assitant District Attorney David Baker told the jury that "This case is about a boiling point and Vonda Smith reacher her boiling point and on that day Vonda turned physical and went violent with something that resulted in death"He also said, "Smith was overtaken by an obsession which drove her to the point of no return on August. 12, 2016"
*At least 2 defense witnesses that testified lived near Jessie in the Cross Anchor Trailer park but did not know Jessie or her boyfriend, Gary. Both told Scott they saw Morrison at the trailer late that afternoon before she left with an unknown male in a white van.
*Sharon Burgner testified there were no blood stains when Smith arrived to pick up Emma.
*Graphic photos of Jessie's injuries were shown at trial. In addition to severe wounds to the back of Jessie's head, she also had bruising and abrasions on her arms and what appeared to be a broken finger on her right hand, indicating a defensive struggle before her death.
*Gene Scott asked Detective Ricker if there were any cuts or marks on Smith's arms. His response was, "No"
*The jury saw video clips of Vonda, Jessie, and her boys pull into the Snapps Ferry Road lot of Food city shortly after 3pm, walk through the parking lot into the store, purchase items at checkout about 3:30 pm and pull out of the parking lot in the white Pontiac at 3:43 pm.
*Jessie was found barefoot.
*Smith told detective Ricker she did not know how the blood stains ended up in her car.
*Trial testimony showed that someone had attempted to use Clorox to wipe the front passenger side window clean.
*Other testimony centered around Smith telling others that a cat had urinated in the car and she had tried to clean the interior to remove the smell. Witnesses gave conflicting dates about when they were told about the cat by Smith.
*Ealey testified that Smith usually took Morrison's sons to stay with her each weekend, but was unable to do so over the previous several weekends because the couple had other plans. He testified that Smith appeared upset. He also testified that she asked him if he had a problem with her keeping the boys.
*Her blood-spattered jeans were unbuttoned, an indication that they no longer fit due to pregnancy.
*TBI forensic Scientist detailed to the jury what was shown in dozens of photographs, including apparent blood stains on the seats, other interior areas and on the exterior of Smith's car. She also pointed out fingerprint samples found all over the exterior.
*Blood stains were found on the passenger seat of the car and floorboard area, in addition to on the passenger side door, center console, and elsewhere in the car.
*Mills told the jury that a drug user or robber would not have inflicted such extensive injuries.
*Baker said that some type of confrontation 'may' have happened at the Davis Valley Road home of Vonda.

Silence...

I wish I had a dollar for every person that comes to me and wants to talk but then backs out. That tells me that people do know things about this case but are afraid of someone or something, and who could blame them? You've read the injuries.
Here is the thing though, I need you to be brave. I need you to stand up for Jessie, I need you to be willing to trust that I will keep you anonymous as if my life depended on it, because yours just might. We can solve this, people know things. People talk and I want to hear it.
     Be brave.

What we know so far...RECAP

We still have more questions than answers, and I feel it is going to be that way for a while. I do learn something new about this case and the people involved every single day. I try to verify it then share it with you. This is definitely a marathon, not a sprint.
So let's go over what we know so far, shall we?
A major thing we know is that a source of information we were using, myself included, is biased and unreliable. The Tumblr/Reddit blog is riddled with conspiracy and finger pointing without any facts to back it up. We live and we learn.
We have also learned that the timeline that has been called into question does very much allow time for a murder. We have learned that Edward Hitchens (he testified that he spoke with Jessie and witnessed her leave in a white van with 2 unidentified males at 5:30pm on August 12, 2016, the day she was murdered.) might not be trustworthy. I would like to speak with him myself, but his reliability has been called into question. In fact, even though he testified on behalf of the defense, Vonda's lawyer had to file a motion for a material witness bond to ensure Edward Hitchens would even show up for his appearance in court.  So I don't think reliability is going to be the first thing on his resume. I would like to know why he would be willing to lie for Vonda's cause, what did he have to gain from that? With every answer comes a new question it seems.

We know that Jessie dropped Gary off at work that morning, at 6:30 am so she would have the car to take C to Johnson City for his surgery that morning. She also had, and kept, a WIC appointment at the Health Department for her and the kids that day around 1-2pm that same day. People reported "C" wasn't whining or fussy.
We know after this Jessie went to Laughlin where Vonda worked and Vonda left work early and took Jessie and the kids to Gary's place of employment, Imery's, to leave the car with him. This meeting is shown on the surveillance footage from Imery's that day.
From there, Jessie, her sons, and Vonda went to Food City on Snapps Ferry. They are seen leaving the parking lot in Vonda's car at 3:37 pm.
This is the last undeniable account for Jessie on the day of her death.
From there it is all Vonda and Edward Hitchen's word.
Gary got off work at 7:10 pm that evening.
Jessie's body was found at 7:30 pm by an elderly man walking his dog.
We know Vonda picked up William's then-girlfriend, Brittney Brown's daughter, E, from Sharon Burgner's house. Sharon said she saw no blood in Vonda's car when she put E inside.
Vonda brought "E" back to her house.
We know Jessie's mother, Tammy, arrived at Vonda's house that evening looking for Jessie. Vonda told Tammy she hadn't seen Jessie since loaning her the car to run errands earlier. Both of Jessie's kids were inside the house with Vonda, E, and her husband, Roger. We know that Tammy went to the police department and was there when Jessie's body was discovered. The injuries were so bad to Jessie's face that they were only able to identify her with pictures of a tattoo Tammy showed them at the police department.

The police came out later that night and took possession of Vonda's car and sent it to TBI for processing.
We know TBI found Jessie Morrison's blood in Vonda's Pontiac Sunfire. It was found in various places. The headliner, the sun visor, behind the air conditioning vent, in the floorboard, the seat, the console, and the emergency brake
We know they did conduct a search of her home. I'm not sure of the date that happened, but it did happen.
We know from testimony from the lead investigator that Vonda had put a towel over the seat of her car. We also know from the lead investigators testimony that the blood appeared to have been wiped.

We know from the autopsy report that this wasn't done using just bare hands. There was an unidentified object used that was never found. We know Jessie fought back, so she wasn't immediately knocked unconscious, which would have made it easier to believe that Vonda did this alone, she fought back though. She fought hard.
We know that none of Vonda's DNA was found on Jessie's body according to lab reports. We also know there are still test being done, though. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to the DNA testing and I feel it will remain that way until after Vonda's appeal hearing. I think after that they will do some more forensic testing.

We know that a lot of people that were connected to Jessie (other than her family) have had run-ins with the law and usually multiple times. A criminal record for drugs doesn't make a murderer. If you have a criminal record for domestic assault, kidnapping, etc. That is going to make me take a second or third look. I think humans are creatures of habit and escalation.
A lot of murderers have no criminal background at all though. I know the state had 6 character witnesses for Vonda at her hearing to reduce bond. That reduction was denied. Every single person I have spoken to that knows Vonda speaks of how she could NEVER have committed this crime. That she was too kind, too loving, too helpful.
I think sometimes, especially as women, those are the characteristics that lead women to commit murder. We are the ultimate protectors of our children and our children's children. I don't know one woman, no matter how sweet, that wouldn't kill if they thought someone was interfering with what they thought what was best for their children or grandchildren.
I think anyone is capable of murder.

Forensic Biology Report

There were a lot of samples taken for testing in this case. There were a lot of samples that didn't get tested, and some that are still waiting to be tested. Evidence of Injury Part 2

Yesterday we went over 20 of the wounds listed in Jessie's autopsy report.
It is with a queasy stomach I will finish that here today. I will post the description of some of these words below the list for your convenience. I had to look a lot of them up during my research and I figure understanding it would be a lot easier if I did that for you.

  1. Extending on the posterior right forearm is a 3/4 inch pink contusion.
  2. Multiple blue- pink contusions involve the medial right forearm, ranging from 1/16 to 2-1/4 inches in greatest dimension.
  3. Purple-pink contusions, 1/8 inch to 1-1/2 inches, involve the posterior right hand and the posterior digits of the right hand. A 5/8 inch orange abrasion is on the posterior medial right hand. The 4th digit of the right hand is fractured. The anterior surface (palm side) of the right thumb has a 3/16 inch red abrasion.
  4. A 1/2 inch blue contusion involves the anterior left shoulder.
  5. Red-orange abrasions are on the posterior left upper arm, ranging from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch.
  6. A 3/8 inch blue contusion involves the left antecubital fossa and a 1-3/4 by 3/4 inch blue contusion involves the anterior medial left antecubital fossa. (this is the inside bend of the elbow)
  7. The anterior left forearm has a 1-3/4 by 1 inches blue contusion.
  8. A 7/8 inch blue contusion involves the medial left forearm.
  9. Petechial hemorrhages are present on the anterior left wrist and the posterior left hand.
  10. The posterior left hand and the posterior digits of the left hand have 1/4 inch to 2-1/2 inches purple contusions. The posterior left hand and the posterior digits of the left hand have orange-red abrasions measuring 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch.
  11. Purple contusions involve the left palm, ranging from 3/8 inch to 1 inch.
  12. A 4-3/4 by 5/8 inch blue contusion is on the anterior right thigh.  The lateral right thigh has a 2-3/4 by 1-1/2 inch red abrasion. A 4 by 1/2 inches yellow-pink abrasion is on the posterior right thigh and a 2 by 3/8 inches red-orange abrasion is on the posterior lateral right thigh.
  13. The anterior right lower leg has red-pink contusions, 1/16 inch to 1-1/2 inches and red-orange abrasions, 1/16 inch to 1-3/4 inches.
  14. Blue contusions and red abrasions involve the right foot. The abrasions and contusions range from 3/8 inch to 2 inches.
  15. The posterior left thigh was scattered faint blue contusions, ranging from 1/2 inch to 2-1/2 inches. Present on the lateral left lower leg ar faint blue-pink contusions, ranging from 1/4 inch to 1-1/8 inches.
Contusion- a bruise

Lateral-  (in terms of which side/part of the arm)- For humans, the arms are in anatomical position when hanging at the sides of the body, palms forward, and the legs are in the anatomical position in a normal standing posture, feet side by side. This means that the pinky side of the wrist is medial, and the thumb side is lateral.

Posterior- meaning the back

Abrasion- an area damaged by scraping or wearing away.

Medial- The middle, nearest center

Anterior- Near the front

I'm hoping this gives everyone an idea of how cold and violent a person or persons had to be in order to inflict all of this.
You have to think of this as well, at some point she was down on the ground, unable to stand, and instead of strangling her, or suffocating her which would have been less painful and quick, they chose to continue to beat her. That was a choice, all of it was a choice, but that particular choice should show that one little woman did not do this. I agree she knew about it, she may have even taken part in it. She is exactly where she should be for not turning in every party involved.
Until next time...

Evidence of Injury

In the autopsy report, they break down the injuries that were inflicted on Jessie.
DISCLAIMER: This is an in-depth assessment of a violent and grotesque attack on the victim. This is hard to read. I cried no less than 5 times writing this post. You may think it is wrong of me to post these findings, but I assure you, after talking with her mother, the things she has had to see and read about this, these findings pale in comparison. Her mother and family want the truth. We are going to find it.
I want you to think about these injuries, as each took an action, a deliberate action, from the perpetrator. I think once you read this and if you really think about it, you will see that Vonda could not have carried this act out alone, especially not on a fighter like our Jessie.

  1. Red abrasions and contusions are present over the anterior right forehead, measuring 3 1/2 by 3 inches.
  2. A 7/8 inch Y-shaped laceration involves the anterior right forehead. The skull is visible under the abrasion.
  3. A 1-5/8 by 1/4 inches horizontal laceration is on the right upper eyelid and overlies a 3 by 2-inch dark purple-red contusion which encircles the right eye and extends onto the anterior right cheek. The right eye is swollen (edematous)
  4. A 2-1/2 by 1-1/2 inch area of red-purple ecchymosis (possible contusion) encircles the left eye.
  5. Pink-red contusions and abrasions involve the anterior medial right cheek, measuring 1-3/4 by 7/8 inches in aggregate.
  6. Blue contusions are scattered over the face, ranging from 3/8 inch to 1 inch.
  7. A 1/2 inch laceration is present on the lateral left eyebrow.
  8. Extending on the lateral left face, lateral to the left eye, is a 5/8 inch laceration. Overlying and posterior to the lacerations is a 3 by 1-1/2 inch purple-pink contusion.
  9. The lateral left face has a 3/16 inch red abrasion
  10. A large 4-1/2 by 2-1/4 inch gaping laceration extends on the posterior head. The laceration has a flap of skin through the middle. Extending from the edges of the gaping laceration are radiating lacerations, ranging from 3/16 inch to 1 inch. The skull underlying the laceration is fractured.
  11. A 7/8 inch purple contusion involves the left side of the upper lip. A 5/16 inch orange-red abrasion/contusion involves the right side of the lower lip.
  12. The inner mucosa on the top jaw (gingiva) has a 1/4 inch purple contusion on both sides of the upper frenulum. The upper frenulum has a 5/16 inch pink- red abrasion. Extending from the left side of the bottom jaw inner mucosa to the left side of the bottom lip is 3/4 inch purple contusion.
  13. Purple-red contusions involve the posterior neck and the upper back. Ranging from 1/2 inch to 1 inch.
  14. On the lateral right neck is a 1 by 3/4 inch pink contusion.
  15. The anterior right chest, superior to the right breast, has a 2 by 1/2 inch blue contusion
  16. A 1-1/2 by 3/4 inch faint pink contusion is on the anterior left lower chest.
  17. A faint roughly circular pink lesion is on the anterior left abdomen, measuring 1-1/4 by 1-1/16 inches.
  18. Two red-purple contusions involve the right upper back / posterior right shoulder, measuring 5 1/2 by 3 inches and 3-1/2 by 2 inches, respectively from medial to lateral.
  19. A 1/4 inch red-orange abrasion is on the right lower back.
  20. The lateral right upper arm has a 1-3/8 inch red abrasion. The medial inferior right upper arm has a 3/4 inch faint blue contusion.
This is only half of it. Half of the listed injuries inflicted that can be seen on the OUTSIDE, by the naked eye. There are 20 more but honestly, I don't have the stomach to put them all on this one post. I will post them in the next one, I feel like it takes a while to really read these and try to picture what went into creating this destruction to a pregnant young woman. I think you will understand why I am driven to help solve this. There is someone out there, someone capable of doing this and sleeping at night, and I don't want this happening to anyone else. So look around you, if you know anyone connected to Jessie in any way shape or form that also has a connection to Vonda, pay attention. Watch for unpredictable behaviors, keep yourself safe. Email me if you find anything odd or peculiar. As always, sources can/will remain anonymous.
Until next time...

Forensic Pathology, anyone?

  Blunt Force Trauma-
is - as its name would suggest - a severe traumatic episode caused to the body or head with the sudden introduction of a blunt instrument used with great force. This can sometimes be caused by an attacker striking out at a victim with their hands, a large piece of wood, a baseball bat or other such item that would cause heavy damage to the body or skull if impacted against them quickly. (www.exploreforensics.co.uk/blunt-force-trauma.html) -all forensic definitions will be from this site.
On the autopsy report, there are a lot of terms used to indicate injuries to Jessie's body.
She was found face up on a slight embankment. Discarded, like trash.
Some of the terms used that you might want to become familiar with:
Abrasions: Cuts, grazing of the skin or friction burns which can be caused by the victim being beaten, dragged or kicked. These wounds can sometimes indicate that a victim hit against something or was hit with something and it can also be used to measure how much of a struggle the victim put up against his or her attacker.
  • Lacerations: This is the tearing of tissue underneath the skin. An individual may be beaten severely or have sustained a severe bump against a stationary object and underneath the skin (subcutaneous) there may be severe damage caused to tissue and organs. Visual examinations do not always show this to be the case and if the victim has died an autopsy will most certainly be carried out.
  • Bruising: Often a good indicator that there are broken blood vessels beneath the surface of the skin. Although there may be some bruising this cannot always be a definite indicator as to how much damage has been sustained deeper within the body such as in the chest cavity and around the lungs.
  • Defensive wounds are more often than not to be found on the hands of an individual who has been attacked or involved in a fight. These wounds, which are normally to be found around the hands, fingers, and arms of the victim - and indeed sometimes the attacker - can be examined in order to determine how much of a struggle the victim put up and how much of a frenzy the attacker was in.

Timeline

What a lot of people don't realize is what took place in Jessie's day on August 12th before she dropped her car off with Gary and joined Vonda.
Early that morning, Channing, age 3 at the time had surgery on his mouth. His surgery was in Johnson City.  Let's think about that for a minute. A child post surgery is groggy, whiney (sometimes), and just kind of out of it. Jessie stopped to see Vonda. Now, anything I put here would be hearsay. Some people say Jessie went to Vonda for help with her two sons, one fresh out of surgery. That seems feasible to me, but everyone that knew Jessie says there was never a time when she couldn't handle her children. No matter how sick, how fussy, how difficult they ever became, she could handle it. Now, that doesn't mean she didn't let Vonda help her that day. There are different accounts and opinion on why Vonda was the one to help Jessie that day and I'm not sure it is relevant. What is relevant is Vonda's feelings about Jessie and her kids, particularly the child she shared with Vonda's son, William.
*** In order to stop repeating the children's names, I will be referring to Channing as "C" and Kamdyn as "K", Emma will be "E", that way their names aren't posted over and over. I am purposefully not putting their last names, I'm hoping to not need to use them often, but anything I put on here is public record that is available for anyone if they want to see it.
Ok, so I have had numerous people tell me that Vonda was someone that liked to be in control of everything. I'm a lot like that myself, so that does not make a murderer. The thing is, Vonda hadn't been a part of "C" life until about a year before Jessie's death. Around the time that Vonda got the trailer for Jessie and her sons. Jessie had been allowing C to spend time with Vonda on the weekends. I have also seen evidence that she was allowing William to see C at those times. Well, here is the thing. Tammy has a pool, it was summer and Jessie asked her mom to get the pool ready for the kids to swim in and on the weekends, instead of being with Vonda, the boys and Jessie were at Tammy's pool trying to beat the heat.
Now, in order to discuss a possible motive, we are going to have to do some spitballing. In my mind, I see this scenario, Vonda, who is not a rich lady by any means, rents a trailer for Jessie, helps Jessie with groceries and such and due to that feels like she should have access to C when she wants to. I could see where someone doing all that to help someone else would feel like they have earned the right to at least be able to keep her grandson on the weekends. I don't think that is unreasonable, even. I do think it is the first dark cloud in this shit storm, though.
I also think Jessie may have even taken advantage of Vonda on occasion and I will tell you how she justified that. Jessie had raised C on her own for 2 years before Vonda came around. She, with the help of her family, had provided everything C needed without any help from his father or Vonda. I imagine that would make Jessie feel as if she was owed some retribution and the only form that could come in was money. I also don't think that is unreasonable. So we have two women, both mothers, walking a tedious line in a new relationship where they both felt entitled to things that, although not unreasonable, caused a building of tension in their relationship that was too new and delicate to navigate waters that rough. You add in the 'mama' bear personality both Vonda and Jessie had and you have the proverbial gas on the fire.
So, I'm going to make a timeline here of events on August 12, 2016, based on court documents and newspaper articles and we will go from there.

  • 6:30 am- Jessie drops Gary off at work and keeps the car they shared so she could take C to his surgery at 8 am that morning.
  • 8:00 am- C has surgery on his mouth.
  • 1:45- 2:00pm- Wic appointments at the Health Department.
  • 3:00 pm- Jessie and Vonda go to Gary's work (Imerys) in separate cars. They meet with Gary (as shown on video surveillance) in the parking lot and Jessie leaves the car with Gary. (Gary testified that Vonda asked if he had lunch money, which fits with what everyone that knew her says, that she was a kind person, this also adds another layer to the 'entitlement' issue)
  • 3:37 pm- They leave the Food city parking lot (as shown on Food City's security footage. (It is reported that Vonda bought Jessie groceries)
  • 3:50 pm- They arrive at Jessie's trailer (Cross Anchor Trailer Park) to drop off the groceries.  (Jessie didn't take the time to put them away, we know this because they were found still sitting in her floor)
  • 3:55 pm- ( I use this time because the groceries weren't put away which leads me to believe she didn't get the kids out of Vonda's car, that she just dropped her stuff off and left again) I don't think she was there long.
  • 4:05 pm- This is the amount of time it takes to get from Jessie's place to Vonda's house, which is where Vonda says they went next.
  • 4:30- 4:45 pm- Vonda says Jessie left in her car with 1,000 dollars that she had given her to pay bills. Vonda says she kept the boys for Jessie. (I have two thoughts about this. I struggle to think that Jessie would leave her son, C, with Vonda seeing as how he had just had surgery. I do also think though, if she had errands to run, as a mom she would have wanted C to rest so she may have left him with Vonda to run errands. Personally, I don't think Jessie ever left Vonda's alive.)
  • 5:30 pm- Edward Hitchens (Jessie's neighbor) testifies that he talked to Jessie and that she left in a white van with 2 unidentified men. (Now, I know he was under oath, but I have tried to corroborate this and I cannot find one person to attest to his credibility. Quite the contrary actually. Jessie wouldn't have gotten into a white van with 2 men when her kids, one fresh out of surgery, were with Vonda waiting for her to return.)
  • 6:00 - 6:15 pm- Vonda says she sees that her car has been returned. She also says she sees one, possibly two white vans and a male and that they drive off, leaving her car for her)
  • 6:20 pm- Vonda says she leaves C, recovering from surgery, with her husband Roger while she goes to get E at Sharon Burgner's house.
  • 6:50 - 7:00 pm- Vonda picks up E from Sharon's house. Sharon puts E in the car, it is reported E had to sit on a towel.
  • 7:10 pm- Gary got off work
  • 7:30 pm- Jessie's body is found by an elderly man walking his dog.
Now, I think someone's name is being left out of this timeline by Vonda. From 4:30 pm - 6:20 pm, that is when I think Jessie was murdered. I don't think she left Vonda's house alive. I don't know what Edward Hitchens would have to gain by lying in court in such a manner that it would support Vonda's story. It will surface though, the truth always does.
Until next time...

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Before we can talk about a timeline we need to get a good idea of the routes and areas we are talking about. I plan to do that in these pictures:
This is the google map view of Jud Neal Loop. Jessie's body was found on this road, some of her belongings and the kid's belongings were scattered down Tyne Gray Road and Betsey Ross Road.

This shows the distance between the two areas where Jessie's belongings were scattered. Her phone case was found on Tyne Gray Road with a bloody fingerprint on it, her phone has never been located.
Another showing the path from the road that Jessie's body was found on to where numerous things had been discarded on Betsey Ross Road.
This is from the road Jessie was found on to the road where her phone case was found. These may seem redundant but I prefer to be thorough. I have also driven all of these routes and timed them to confirm the accuracy of the google maps timing.

Jessie lived in Cross Anchor Park, this shoes the distance between Food City on Snapps Ferry Road to Jessie's house. Food City is the last place Jessie was seen alive with absolute proof. There is surveillance video of Jessie and Vonda shopping there.
This is the distance from Jessie's trailer to the road where her body was found. The groceries her and Vonda had purchased were found sitting in her kitchen floor without bags.
This is the distance from Vonda's house on Davis Valley Road to Jessie's trailer, and below is the distance between Vonda's house and the road Jessie's body was found
People try to eliminate Vonda due to the small time frame, but as you can see, these are small distances. Vonda's house is minutes from the crime scene and where all of Jessie's things had been discarded. Maybe that is a coincidence, but I doubt it. The next blog post I'm going to go over forensics, things found and tested.
Until next time...

Lets meet our players, shall we?

By players I mean the people we will be discussing that are connected to this case. Not just suspicious people. Let's go

  • Jessie Nicole Morrison-   was 21 years old when she was murdered on August 12, 2016. She moved into Cross Anchor Trailer Park about nine months before her death. Vonda rented that place for her because it was convenient for Vonda to stop by and see Channing anytime she wanted (according to several sources) Jessie was doing online school and was one month from being finished with her course in medical coding. She lived in the trailer with Gary Ealey, her fiance, her two sons Channing (3) and Kamdyn (1), and Gary's father J.D. Ealey. I'm not 100% certain but I think Gary's brother, Donavan, stayed there a lot as well. Jessie was, by all accounts, a good mother and friend. She was also more than capable of taking up for herself and would not tolerate being disrespected, as most women won't in East Tennessee. She wasn't passive or afraid of confrontation. She was trying to better herself to provide a better life for her children. She was 4 months pregnant at the time of her murder.
  • Tammy Morrison- (Jessie's Mother)- Went to Vonda's the night of the murder looking for Jessie. She was unaware that Jessie had been found, dead on Jud Neal Loop because the police were unable to identify her.  Tammy is tough as nails and hard working. Jessie and her two sons had lived with Tammy until Jessie moved into the trailer nine months prior to her death. Contrary to what has been posted on other sites, Tammy and Gary did NOT have a tumultuous relationship. She actually let Gary be at her house after the murder. They still do not have any issues with one another.
  • Gary Ealey- (Jessie's fiance)-  lived with Jessie at the Cross Anchor Trailer with her two sons and his father, J.D. Ealey. Worked at Imery's minerals. Had a concrete alibi on the day of the murder. He was at work from 6:30 am until 7:10 pm. Gary was the presumed father of Jessie's unborn child. They were not arguing or having relationship issues before her murder. Gary now lives in Florida with his wife, who is about to deliver his son. He saw Jessie on August 12, 2016, on his lunch break. She dropped off their shared car and left with Vonda and her two sons in Vonda's white Sunfire.
  • Donavan Ealey-  (Gary's brother). Drove a white van, which made him suspect in a lot of rumors. He and Jessie got along very well and Jessie thought a lot of him according to her mother, Tammy. He does have a criminal history but as far as I can tell there was nothing that tied him to Jessie's murder.
  • J.D. Ealey-  (Gary's father)- Lived with Jessie, her two sons, and Gary in the Cross Anchor Trailer. Was in jail for drug charges but I have yet to see anything that would provide motive or proof that he had anything to do with Jessie's death. I was told he was very distraught over Jessie's death.
  • Edward Hitchens- (Jessie and Gary's neighbor)- Testified that he saw and spoke with Jessie at 5:30pm the evening of her murder. He stated that he saw Jessie leave with an unknown male in a white van. If this is true that makes him the last person to see Jessie alive besides her killer.
  • Sharon Burgner- (Emma's grandmother)- Emma is the daughter of Brittney Brown, William Smith's girlfriend at the time of Jessie's death. Vonda drove to pick up Emma from Sharon's house on the evening of August 12, 2016. Sharon testified that she noticed no blood in Vonda's car when she buckled Emma into the front seat of the Sunfire.
  • Brittney Brown- (William Smith's girlfriend at the time of Jessie's murder. Emma's mother)
  • William Allen Smith- (Vonda's son and the father of Channing, Jessie's oldest son)- maintains his mother is innocent.  Trying to get custody of Channing from Tammy Morrison.
  • Christian Smith (Vonda's son)- claimed to have been at work at the time of Jessie's murder. I can't find a record of that being corroborated
  • Cassie Smith (Christian's wife, Vonda's daughter in law)
  • Shawn Gross- (Kamdyn's father, Jessie's youngest son)- was in Texas at the time of the murder.
  • Roger Smith (Vonda's husband)-  Lives with Vonda at 415 Davis Valley Road, Afton, TN, in poor health due to cancer and other health issues. According to Vonda, he was at the home with Channing when she went to pick up Emma. She said she took Kamdyn with her.
  • Vonda Star Smith- (incarcerated for the first-degree murder of Jessie Morrison and the second-degree murder of Jessie's fetus)  Vonda had only been a part of Channing's life for about a year. According to several people, Vonda had said bad things about Jessie and Tammy in the months before Jessie's death. Had said she saw one, maybe two white vans in her road when her car was dropped off at her house after letting Jessie use it. Claims she was assaulted and left for dead in a ditch in October 2016, several people say she claimed in secrecy it was Gary Ealey that assaulted her. There is no corroboration or proof of that in any way shape or form. She was at home with her husband Roger, Jessie's two sons, and Emma when police arrived and took possession of her car. She claimed she had loaned Jessie 1,000 dollars that day, there is no proof of that, that I have been able to find or even hear about. Vonda had written a letter referencing the song "The little girl" by John Michael Montgomery and had given it to a detective, in the letter Smith expresses concern about the well being of her grandson and her ability to have access to him in the future. "I'm just trying to save my grandson," she wrote in one passage.

Proof?

This is a journey, Y'all.  I am still digging, still interviewing, and still writing. I do not think I know everything about this case and you shouldn't either. What we can do, as a collective, is examine what we do know and discuss that. I mentioned in the last post that I believe Vonda had heavy involvement with the murder, but I don't think she is the sole person responsible, nor do I think she was the person that physically killed Jessie, not on her own at least.
Vonda is 4ft 11inches tall and 170lbs.  I myself am 5 ft. even, and will not be disclosing my weight. If I am ever arrested for a murder you can find out then.  So I do have an idea of what being this short entails. Jessie was 5ft. 6inches tall and 170lbs. So Jessie had 7 inches on Vonda and the weight was the same. I know Jessie was younger but not only that, she was raised to be tough. From all accounts from people that knew her, she would take no one's shit sitting down. She was scrappy without hesitation if the situation called for it. This isn't uncommon or even looked down upon, not here in the South anyway. Any woman worth her salt will stand up for herself and those she loves. You throw in the fact that Jessie was pregnant with another child when she was attacked and I think it is safe to assume she would have fought like hell to protect not only herself but her children. Why is this so important? Well, because an obese 52 year old of that stature would have a hard time getting in and out of a car, lifting heavy objects (especially with her medical condition of spinal stenosis) much less having the cardio ability to not only fight with a 21 year old healthy strong woman with a lot to lose, but to bludgeon her to death.
Now, a murder weapon was never found, and I doubt it ever will be but one was used according to the autopsy report. It also mentions the many defensive wounds Jessie acquired while fighting for her life. So this wasn't a "lucky blow" instantaneous knock-out type of situation. This was a fight. A hellacious fight. It ended with the strong, healthy woman being beaten to death even through fighting back.  I would love to see a scenario where Vonda is the only culprit and that is the ending. I can't think of one. I certainly can't think of one where she unloaded her own weight, in the form of Jessie's body, out of her small car to evict her off the side of the road.
So, now that I have explained my opinion on Vonda's guilt or innocence, I want to explain why I have issues with the verdict.
The evidence was all circumstantial, which is hard for me. The jury did nothing wrong with convicting her if they felt the state proved their case, I just don't feel like they did. Also, I wasn't in there. I have spoken with several people that were there for the entirety of the trial and I have yet to hear anything that would stand out as hardcore proof in this case. I have heard proof she was involved, they proved the hell out of that.  Had I been on the jury, it would have been a hung jury and that would have been unfortunate because I do think Vonda is where she needs to be. I do think she is covering for others involved, but I  think she did her part, enough so to merit her current lodgings. I say let her sit there and think about what she did and why she did it.  If she did this so she could have her grandson, I hope the realization that she will never see him again hits her and hits her hard. Jessie deserved better, and that is why I get upset with the verdict. It makes it seem as if that was the whole truth and nothing but the truth concerning Jessie's murder and I just can't get behind that. I don't think this is over though. I believe with all my heart the truth always comes out. Vonda will spill it or someone else will, but it will be spilled and I will be there mopping it up and delivering it to you guys.

Try to imagine...

Honestly, I wish it was finished. Please don't let it be misconstrued that I revel in this horrific tragedy, because I don't. I have cried for Jessie, I have cried for her and her family. On her birthday this year, I was knee-deep in paperwork about this case and I had to just step away from it, my heart stays heavy with an obligation to a girl that I never knew. I have spent more than 40 hours a week thinking about/investigating this case. I wish I had read all the information and could just accept that Vonda was the only one guilty and let it go. I can't though. I can't unlearn the things I have learned about this case.

I feel the pull to discover everything I can because it is the very least that can be done for her family.
A lot of people spend weekends doing fun things with their family. My husband and I have spent most weekends for the past couple of months out driving routes, timing those routes, applying them to a timeline that seems to never be just right. What I am saying is, I have a lot invested in this and I am determined. I don't feel the need to add drama for a good story, I don't want twists and turns, I want the pure, unobscured truth, no matter what that turns out to be.
I feel sorry for Vonda's family as well. The people that feel in their soul that she could have never been any part of this, I feel bad for them. I can put myself in their shoes and it would also be crushing. There are no winners in this story. There is no celebration, only hope that anything I can find out will help provide some sort of peace for Jessie's family.
Topix is a cesspool of ignorance, mostly. I do have to say though, when trying to find little pieces of information to link people together, it can be invaluable. I don't post on Topix, but I have read a lot of it. I usually gag at some point. Anyway, this is how I came across the idea that people think less of Jessie and her family. I saw things like, "That girl was a slut, and trashy." , "She got herself into a big mess because of drugs." and "What do you expect would happen to a girl with 3 kids with different dads at her age?"
Statements like that infuriate me and even though I have encountered a lot of cruelty and ignorance in my life, I cannot for the life of me imagine justifying a comment like any of those. I have read people slandering not only Jessie but her family. I don't take anyone's word for anything, especially now. So you know what I did, I put in the work and the effort and I reached out to her family. You know what? They were some of the kindest, hardworking folks I have ever met. They are very different from me but they are not less or deserving of anything that has happened to them. The lies that have been posted about them say a LOT about the person posting them and nothing about the people they are supposed to be about.
Jessie's mother, Tammy, works two jobs... 12-hour shifts mostly 7 days a week. They have a nice house and rely on no one for help or assistance, not that there would be anything wrong if they did.
I just want you to try to imagine...Try to imagine planning on spending the night with your daughter and grandsons only to arrive and she is missing. Try to imagine the frantic sense of urgency as a gut feeling, one only a mother could have, hits you in waves as you drive to the person's house that was known to be with her last. The panic, overwhelming nausea and anger when you can't get answers from the person that person.
Imagine the trip to the police department.
Don't just judge and try to pretend you would do things differently. Tammy did exactly what any mother would and should do, she set out to find her daughter no matter what it took, and she did. It was a devastating discovery that crushed her in every way, but she found her.
Try to imagine a cop asking you if your daughter had any distinguishing marks on her body! As a parent, stop yourself right now and imagine that. If you have ever lost track of your child at the park for even 3 seconds you know that feeling of terror, well Jessie's family has had that since the night of August 12, 2016.
I will state again, I have no relation to anyone involved in this case. I just have a heart.
     Till next time...

The BIG Elephant in the Murder Room

Let us just address the Tumblr/Reddit blog here. I was told I needed to take a look again today after a new post.
Ok, so let me just get how I feel out here...It is fiction if you think the person writing it went from "Free Vonda" to "I just want the truth for Jessie" you are probably in the wrong place. We have no time for gullibility. I don't subscribe to the sensationalism that is being woven obviously to benefit from this tragedy. I'm disgusted and so is Jessie's family.
There is no conspiracy or threat to me or anyone else investigating this case. I'm not sure what makes one need to bend the truth to fit their desires, I think we all did that as children but there comes a time when you have to face facts. I align that blog with Infowars and I don't like people assuming that I can't see through their bullshit.
It is a shame because the person writing it,  Vonda's relative,  is a good storyteller and I think they could write the hell out of a fiction novel. As good as they are, still, I am not buying the change of heart they are portraying after tearing down and trying to piss on the victims family and the victim herself. You have shown your true colors. If I read lies and nonsense, I will try to correct it. There is a lot of it on that blog and honestly, I'm not sure I have the time to cover all of it but moving forward I will be advocating for the victim and the victim's family. Jessie and her family are not a lesser class of people, contrary to how they are being painted by Ol' Alex Jones over on Tumblr.  These are OUR people. Tennessee people.
If you think there is corruption in the police department, I'm sure there probably is but it has nothing to do with this case. I can weave you a tale of endless conspiracies that would be fun as hell to read but you know what that is called? FICTION. To say you only want the truth, but then shy away from it makes me want to pull a Jack Nicholson.
The amount of time spent on tearing down Crystal Ealey and Jessie's family and life choices makes me question the sanity of the author. Crystal (with whom I've spoken) is the current target of Ol Alex Tumblr Jones and it is disgusting. She is pregnant and not in the best of health. She can only devote so much of her life trying to defend herself to a lunatic.
This is the statement I got from Crystal and Gary Ealey this afternoon:
"Yeah that lady’s just making herself look worse by doing what she’s doing. There’s a big difference between proving someone’s innocence and attacking others and accusing them and slandering them to try to make someone else look better. She’ll have what’s coming to her, God knows and whoever did it will have to face him someday. There’s nothing that can be done here on earth that will ever right the wrong that was done to that girl. And the best that person can do is admit to what they’ve done, ask for forgiveness, and take the repercussions for the things they have done. Whoever did it can not and will not ever live a good life, not with a weight like that on them every day for the rest of their life. And if it wasn’t Vonda, whoever did it has to live with the fact that they not only destroyed Jessie’s life, her children’s lives, and her family’s lives, but also allowed an innocent woman’s life and freedom to be taken from her also. And that would be a huge burden to carry around."

The Author of that post is nothing but a straw-grasping bully in my opinion, but it is out of desperation. Her family member, one she thought could NEVER be capable of such a thing and I'm sure that is a hard pill to swallow.
So let us all try to find the truth. Till next time...

What does it mean?

The title of this blog means exactly what it says, I like to mop (or do any kind of housework) while listening to murder. That can be a podcast, audiobook, or just the ID channel blaring throughout the house. My current favorite is a podcast called, "My Favorite Murder" it is the only reason my floors stay semi-clean and is definitely the only reason I walk on the treadmill every day. The irony that murder fuels my life is not lost on me, by the way. I don't feel like I am alone in this, in fact, I know there are tons of true crime loving moms that take a dip in the murder pool every chance they get. Look around you. You see a woman with headphones in while her kid plays soccer with your kid? She is probably listening to murder. See the woman reading on her Kindle? Probably a murder mystery.  I also believe my obnoxious blaring of the ID channel is the very thing that prevents  Jehovah's Witnesses from knocking on my door in an attempt to convert me. They figure I'm too demented to join them or that I am in the midst of getting murdered. They just know there are screams coming from my house. I spend a lot of my life with murder.
Okay, so let's get to why I started this blog. I am from a small town called Greeneville, TN. It is mountains and farmers and the epitome of "The Bible Belt"   Murders happen there, not often, but they do occur, and instantly everyone becomes a murder sleuth, myself included. I think this is normal, what might not be normal, is the extent that I have taken it to this time around. I am currently writing a true crime novel about a murder that happened in Afton, Tn. There has been a conviction and a life sentence plus twenty-five years handed to Vonda Star Smith of Afton, TN for the murder of Jessie Nicole Morrison, she was from Rogersville, TN but lived in Greeneville at the time of her death. She was four months pregnant and found on the side of a remote, narrow road in Afton called "Jud Neal Loop" by an elderly man walking his dog at 7:30pm on August 12, 2016. Vonda is the grandmother of Jessie's oldest son, who was 3 at the time of her murder.
When it first happened, I friend requested anyone that was connected to the victim that I could locate on Facebook. I snooped and went through tons of photographs that Jessie had been tagged in and it broke my heart. She was 21 at the time of her murder. A mother of two boys and another child on the way. It upset me then but I didn't become as consumed as I am now.
Flash forward to 2017, when Vonda was officially arrested for the murder. I became interested in the case again because now we had a suspect, that was exciting to me. I tried looking into her but she had no online presence that I could find so again, the case crawled into a dark corner of my mind and took a long nap there. Life goes on, after all. I have a family that I have to devote a LOT of attention to so when it fell from the public interest, it fell from mine as well. I had that luxury, unlike her poor family.
Then in May 2018, the trial started. It lasted 4 days. I shit you not, 4 days. I mean, I'm no lawyer but that seems awfully quick considering the evidence that was presented often raised more questions than answers, in my opinion. I did look into it, and apparently, that isn't outside the norm in everyday murder cases but then came the Reddit posts. I was hooked, I have no lies to tell. One of my friends posted a link to the Reddit and I felt so compelled that Vonda was innocent. The things they were saying, the direction they were leading me with their storytelling. I believed them, but I have always questioned everything and that is how my research and investigation into this case started. I expected to find myself fighting to prove Vonda was innocent, but that gave way to me just wanting to find out facts that were unbiased. It turns out the Reddit/Tumblr authors are related to Vonda and seemed to be swimming in a deep pool of conspiracy and fear. Maybe there is a reason to be afraid, but I won't let it stop me from searching for truth.
Before anyone assumes or tries to interpret my feelings for me I will go ahead and state that I do NOT think Vonda is innocent. If you feel she is, fine and great, but I would encourage you to put in the work and search for all the truth, not just the information that has been handed out previously.  Check for yourself, after everything I have found, I can't see how anyone could consider her innocent. I will say this though if I find anything that proves otherwise, I am not glued to my opinion. I will change it if provided evidence that would merit a change. I do think someone else, at least one other person was involved. I don't think Vonda is physically capable of doing what was done to Jessie on her own. This is my opinion though, I want to make sure everyone knows that. Even though it is my opinion, from what I have seen so far from the case, I am unsure how the jury found her guilty of first-degree murder but I digress. I think she had a hand in it, I think she may have even directed it, but I don't think the state proved that she committed the murder.  I will discuss this more in the next post if there seems to be enough interest to merit the next post.  I will try to add to this every day if I can, I'm sure I will falter on that at times but I do research/work on this case every single day. I will provide updates on that in this blog, so subscribe if you want to know when I post such things. If you know someone that is interested in this case, share this with them if you want to.
Until next time...
